If you’re looking for a great place swim in the ocean, Avila Beach is hard to beat. Located in a small semi protected bay with various piers and points to sight off of it’s like an open water swim arena. Swimmers, Triathletes, Marathoners and Channel swimmers will all find something to challenge and excite them here!

Rob Aquatics offers one-on-one (or small group) lessons with an experienced marathon ocean swimmer to help you make the transition from the pool to the ocean and get ready for whatever open water goals you may have in mind. Want to swim from Alcatraz or compete in an Ironman? We’ve got you covered. We’ll get you comfortable in the ocean, teach skills like sighting and drafting, and build up your fitness. All sessions are built specially for you and your current skill set.
Here are a couple notes from recent clients:

“Rob D has a passion for swimming and can help you reach your goals in a safe, strategic manner. I’ve always wanted to see if I could endure the “Alcatraz Swim” and Rob helped me achieve that goal. From basic strokes, to sighting, breathing and just enjoying the moment, I highly recommend Rob D to anyone who wants to tackle open water swimming.” – Kurtis, Morro Bay

“Hi Rob! Thank you so much! I did the SB Long Course Triathlon last weekend, and the swim was the best part. I was a little nervous going in because there were some waves right at the shore. Right before my wave started, a seal popped his head up right in front of the start line. I counted it as a sign of luck, and just reminded myself to relax. At the start of the swim I was actually passing people, and then I hit a wall of women who I couldn’t get around. So I backed off a bit, and just settled in. I got grabbed, bumped, and hit. And probably did the same to a few other people (accidentally of course). But thanks to your prep, the full contact swimming didn’t bother me at all. Overall I have to say I really enjoyed the swim. Considering how earlier this year I actually had to have a kayak pull me out of the water during a race because I couldn’t stop the panic monster, getting out of the water with a smile on my face feels wonderful! So I just wanted to send you a quick note to thank you for all your help!” – Jen R., Arroyo Grande – 2011 Ironman Arizona Finisher
