It seems like forever since I’ve been in an actual pool even though it was only a week ago. The last week involved 6 airplanes, a lake, an ocean, and multiple open water excursions so I guess it just felt longer than usual! Anyways, I hit the pool in Santa Maria and I can smell the chlorine on me so that must mean it’s been too long since I’ve been in chemically enhanced water.
Today was my last lunchtime swim with my friend Christy. She’s starting a new job in SLO which kinda kills any hope for seeing her in Santa Maria on a regular basis. She’s super fun and part of the imaginary “core” team so it’s a real bummer to see her go. Our swim today was just 5 of us and we kept it pretty mellow. A big warm up followed by some IM stuff capped off with some 100′s that I took to be whatever I felt like although they were meant to be a breath control set.
200 swim (faster)
3 x 100 split back/free, breast/free, fly/free
10 x 75 @ 1:15 odds IM switching, evens free
8 x 100 varied stuff with fins on
2650 yards total
Tonight I need to get packed up for the next leg of the Rob Aquatics Open Water World Tour (of America). I’m driving off to San Francisco tomorrow. Saturday I’m attempting a lap around Alcatraz (I may have bitten off more than I can chew with that swim, but hey it’s worth a shot right:)), and Sunday I’m swimming the USMS 1-3 Mile Championships in Lake Del Valle out in Livermore, CA. If you see me out and about say hi!
