pushing off into the main set

Honestly I was kind of hoping for a chill, half assed kind of day… I’ve been charging pretty hard recently and my body is hurting. Unfortunately I was the only one on that plan today! We started pretty mellow but the main set was enough to capture my full attention for 1600 yards! Well I did have a few lapses in concentration but I blame that on backstroke. While swimming on my back I started contemplating the shapes of clouds and not really paying attention to what I was doing. I saw a triceratops and the Notre Dame Leprechaun up there… and then I smacked my forearm into the wall… whoops. No more cloud gazing for me.

800 pull (100 back, 200 free, 50 breast, 200 free, 50 back, 200 free) – 900 was prescribed but I skipped some

3000 yards total

3 of us did the main set on what was deemed the “motivatory” interval, but there was around 6 or 7 of us in the water doing the workout today. Even though it turned out harder than I had hoped I’m happy I did it. A good hard swim was what I needed today. Tonight however I need an ice pack and an adult beverage so I’m going to go work on that. Tomorrow I should be underwater in Avila Beach for some open water excitement.

    It’s the Paul Nelson Aquatics Center in Santa Maria… I’ve never been down the slide but I can’t say I haven’t thought about it ;)
