Unfortunately a trip to Indy wasn’t in the cards for me this year, but by the looks of the results in my age group so far I’m not missing out on winning any medals! My 29.9 50m fly that I was so proud of at SPMA Regionals would have seated me firmly in last place in the 25-29 age group, yikes!

Peeking through the results though I see that one of my favorite swimmers is tearing up the field like she normally does… Coach Ahelee from the Mission Viejo Nadadores won the 200 back by 5 seconds! One more second and she’s got the World Record! She also won her age group in the 200 free. Congrats Ahelee and good luck through the rest of the weekend… I’m going to live vicariously through you for this nationals :)

If you want to play along at home, real-time results are being posted here… no livestreaming available for this one that I am aware of though.

I think the next major pool meet for me is going to be the SPMA SCM Championships in Long Beach in December. I’m going to try to increase my yardage and start lifting weights again to get bigger and faster. Today I put in a decent workout towards that goal. It wasn’t particularly long, but I put a lot into it.

Repeat x 4
200 free
100 IM
50 drill (in IM order)
100 kick

8 x 100 free @1:30 descending

50 easy

2650 yards total

I’m thinking about doing something physical tonight at the gym I just don’t know if it’s going to be on dryland or in the pool.

Checking in on the SPMA and you Rob!
Thanks for the post today :)

I am stunned at the swimming here and I think it can only be attributed to "swimming happy"!

Just wish a few of you – my good buddies were here with us!
But thats' how masters swimming works.
We have years to swim together in the future!

Tomorrow is more racing and then SATURDAY IS RELAY DAY!

Well it looks like you took advantage of that world class backstroke water! I wish I could have made it out, but I think the convention in Chicago is going to be my one big trip this year.

Good luck tomorrow… I'll be watching the results page!!!

We need to find a way for Garrett to get here next year to livestream the USMS Nationals – and get paid!

Chicago is going to be awesome.
Lots of interesting things in the works…
