My plan for free accomodations this weekend for the Naples Island Swim isn’t going to workout quite right so I’m going to stay in Long Beach Saturday night instead. I’m busy looking for a workout I can drop in on Saturday that happens late enough in the day that I don’t have to leave my house at 4 in the morning to get there (for reference… I’m at least 3 hours from LAX). Any suggestions?

Had a short swim tonight, only about 25 minutes of solid swimming which is probably good for about 1700 yards. I normally would have counted it out with my SportCount lap counter thingie but I’m not completely sure where it is at the moment. The goal today was to just get my arms and legs moving. I’ll have a real workout tomorrow with my Santa Maria masters group.

On a side note I bought some TYR schwimmer-hosen online today. Even though I think I’m going to look silly in Leggings but I still want to try them out in the name of science. I get asked about different suits a lot so it’s worth it to me to race in them a few times just to see what they’re like. Just in case I don’t like them I bought a couple pairs of goggles to just for good measure :)

If I were going to Los Angeles, I would look for a workout Eric Hochstein was coaching!

That's not a bad idea… he might be too hardcore for the occasion though, I still have to race around an island on Sunday! I think my shortlist at the moment would be CSAM, WH20, SCAQ, and the Grunions… it all depends on what time I can get into the city that morning since I'm only staying in town Saturday night. I really want to swim with Nancy at Conejo Simi but I would have to leave Pismo around 4:15am to make it on time for their 7am practice! No matter what I want to swim with somebody, I just wish I could find a solid lunch time Saturday workout.

We (Long Beach Shore Aquatics Masters) workout at Cal State Long Beach on Sat. morning starting at 7 am. If that is still too early for you, a group of folks meet up on Saturday afternoons to swim in the bay. However, bay swims usually aren't coordinated until day of.

7am is definitely too early for me to be in Long Beach… I'd have to leave my house at like 3am. The swim in the bay sounds cool though, and highly appropriate seeing as that's why I'm in Long Beach this weekend in the first place.

If you get wind of any pre-planning shoot me an e-mail (rob@robaquatics.com), I'd totally be into it.
