I did a short LCM workout this morning just to reacquaint myself with the concept of swimming 50m between walls. This was my last chance to swim LCM before my next meet so despite wanting desperately to sleep in, I had to get up and out of the house by 5:30. I figured that if I kept things short I wouldn’t burn my shoulders out right before the Santa Clarita meet on Sunday. Online registration closed last night, but you can still deck enter if you’re feeling like racing this weekend. I’m still a little sore from all the racing I did last weekend but I’ll live.
Since I’m swimming a 50 of everything, I figured I should swim a few real life long course 50s. My fly and free are fine. I’m a little concerned about holding a straight line on my back for 50m though. I might take the long way down the pool in a zig zag fashion… or just grind my face down the lane line. It should be fun for everyone except me. And after 2 50′s of breaststroke this morning… I think I’m only going to swim breaststroke during short course meets. The best part of my breaststroke is the part where I’m underwater, LCM is not going to be friendly to my times.
100 dolphin kick on my back
2 x 200 broken IM
3 x 100 free
1200 meters total
I’m not sure if I’m going to swim or bike or both tomorrow, but I definitely want to do something active. Santa Clarita is going to be a reality check baseline time finding type of meet for me and I don’t need to be in super rested tip top form. I just need to show up and swim as fast as I can that day so that I can determine what events I should swim this season and what types of goals I should shoot for.
