After an overly exciting weekend of swimming and driving, I hurt like hell. I’ve got a lot of creaky joints that are none to pleased with what I’ve been up to. Tonight’s swim was basically the warm down I should have done at Mission Viejo. When I’m at a swim meet I have very little patience for warming down, especially with a bunch of other people in the same lane and a 4 hour drive ahead of me. I really need to slow down and spend a little more time swimming after I’m done racing.

I seriously only swam like 1000 yards tonight. Lame I know. But I found it prudent to listen to my body and take it easy for one more day. Now is not the time to be hurting myself! I don’t think I’m currently swimming enough yardage to taper in any meaningful way, so I’m thinking I’m going to want to increase my intensity the next few days and then coast through next week before nationals. I’m going to work on setting some goals for Clovis and get them posted sometime this week.

    Rob –

I swam a taper practice yesterday that was full of recovery and EZ technique 25s.

Today I took off completely and feel good about it.
Had a good lunch with some super excellent swimming people…

    Looking forward!

Well I don’t feel that bad about slacking off if my hard core national record setting friends took today off :)

I need to get tough the next few days and then try to scale it back so I am fresh and fast next week.

Once I’ve got Nationals out of the way I’m going to have to pick your brain a little bit to get some ideas on what I need to do during LCM season to get stronger and faster.
