It’s a gorgeous day out here on the central coast so I decided to hop on the bike for the first time in a while and spend some time pedaling. I’ve been traveling a lot and have been neglecting my bike so it was a lot of fun to get out there today. I let the season dictate my route. It’s spring break time so Pismo is packed with about 95% of the population of the Central Valley. They seem to only travel in gigantic diesel trucks pulling trailers so I figured it was in my best interest to avoid the beach. Instead I went inland towards Lake Lopez to avoid being run over, plus there’s all kinds of great wild flowers in bloom right now.

I rode about 6 or 7 miles into the inland portions of Arroyo Grande. My legs felt pretty good even though I haven’t been on the bike for more than just commuting since sometime in February. The view was very pleasing aesthetically but not so much allergetically… now that I am home I am sneezing like a mad man. The downside to everything being beautiful and in bloom is that it freaks out my allergies. Oh well. I’m just happy to have gotten in a ride. All told I probably rode 13 or 14 miles, I’d like to be back up to more like 30-40 miles per ride again once I get past USMS Nationals.

As usual I took some pictures while I was out, here you go…

Thanks! It’s really impressive to see the fields and roadsides explode with all this color. Most of the time it’s just green and brown depending on if it’s the rainy season or not, but for a little while we get these great expanses of yellow, orange and purple. I just wish I didn’t have allergies so I could enjoy it all a little more.
