I think the newer Masters group that I linked to is actually set up by USMS... or at least that's the vibe I'm getting. I'm not sure what their plans are with it though.

Networks are different though. By belonging to the USMS network you can view the profiles of other people that belong to it. The same way as if you're part of a geographic network and you can read the profiles of others in the same area. There's not much that you can do via a network in a promotional manner but it does make communication with and discovery of other swimmers much easier.

I agree the USMS forums are pretty good and really active, but not everybody is into forums so I think it's nice to give other options. The younger set that is post High School or College that masters really needs to recruit heavily prefers Facebook so I think it's ok to have a few outposts there even if they are a little redundant.

OK... I got my USMS email address and all.

But explain to me why we need to have a network - or what we are going to do with this "network".

I'm already confused at why there are 2 Masters groups on Facebook right now.
Masters Swimming has 591 members and the new USMS group is up to 348now, most of which are probably already on the 1st group!

Do people just like to be part of groups?
I don't see a whole lot of interaction or posting activity.

I think the best thing out there for information is the USMS Discussion Forums on their website.
