Ok, so yesterday I spent the afternoon entering meets, picking events and reserving hotel rooms. I decided to man up and basically enter everything. The idea is to beat myself up with races like I did in February and then recover during the 2 week break between SPMA Championships and USMS Nationals. In February I did 3 meets in 3 straight weeks and put up performances of varying quality, but once I got some rest and came back for March I killed it in every race I swam. I’d like to do that again :)
Here’s what I’ve entered:
UCLA on April 4th: 200 IM, 50 Free, 100 Breast, and 50 Fly
Pacific Masters Championships on April 18th & 19th: 100 Fly, 100 IM, 50 Fly, 50 Breast, 200 IM, 50 Free
San Luis Obispo LCM on April 25th: 50m Fly, 100m Fly, 50m Free, 100m Free
SPMA Championships on April 26th: 200 Free, 50 Breast, 50 Free
I’m swimming some off events for the experience just see what happens. Plus there’s no personal pressure for me to do super fast in a lot of these events. If I don’t set the world on fire with my 50 breast stroke it won’t bring me down. Speaking of breaststroke… I have a feeling that with a little practice I could be ok at it. I was never any good at it as a kid but I’ve had some pretty decent breaststroke races this season, especially considering that I don’t really train that much for it.
