I made my way to San Luis Obispo today to swim at the big pool up there. It’s sunny out here today so I decided it would be fun to swim at an outdoor pool instead of my usual dark, tiny pool in Pismo. I mainly just swam 400′s with short bursts of faster swimming in between

I like swimming in a different pool every once and a while because it just feels different. Some pools feel faster and some feel slower to me. The pool in SLO always feels “thicker” to me, like I have to work harder to swim in it. I can’t explain it really, it just is what it is. But by swimming there and other pools occasionally it helps me be ready for all the different pools I end up in because of swim meets.
Tomorrow I am tentatively scheduling myself for a swim in the ocean so that I can try out my new wetsuit. I don’t have a swim buddy, but I’ll have Heidi on the beach keeping an eye on me and there should be a ton of surfers out there in the water with me.

Wear a bright pink swim cap if you swim on your own Rob!
Or come down to Corona del Mar by 3pm to swim with us!
I am wearing a wetsuit – and am tenative since my foot has begun to swell again from my stingray sting!
I’d love to come on down and swim with you guys but it’s about a 450 mile round trip! If I’m in the neighborhood I’ll definitely check in with you and see if I can sneak in a swim.
Despite being bald I do have a few caps… I’ve got a bright red silicone cap and a cool yellow one from the Naples Island Swim… I’m thinking silicone would be warmer. I don’t like the idea of going out alone but I’m not planning on going too far and Pismo is really shallow really far out. I’m more concerned about getting nailed by a surfboard!
Did you ever go to the dr. for your sting? That doesn’t sound too good if you’re swelling back up!
