I finally got myself entered into the USMS National meet coming up in May. I booked a room a while ago, but I’ve been waiting to actually qualify for some events before I entered the meet. You don’t have to qualify to swim by the way. Any USMS registered swimmer can do up to 3 events without meeting the qualifying times (qualifying times are listed here). You can swim up to 6 if you qualify in the other 3 events.

I am going to swim on Friday and Saturday in the 100 fly, 50 fly, 50 free, and my wildcard event… the 200 breast. The 200 breast is the wrong event at the right time. I figured why not. I was going to try this one out at Long Beach in December but it was too late in the day and I needed to drive home. Hopefully I’ll be able to swim a few relays while I’m there too.

Don’t forget that the USMS 1 Mile Open Water Championships are the Monday right after the meet in a Lake out in Fresno. I want to drive back out and do this swim if I can get the time for it. You can read more about the open water event here.

    What no 200 Fly?

I’m still working up to it! Plus it’s on Sunday and I only planned on being there Friday and Saturday.

Have you figured out what you’re going to swim… or if you’re going to go?

OK Rob – Congrats on getting that entry done! And your events are laid out so well within the schedule – awesome!

I am SO nervous about this entry… I can not decide what I should swim! My best events are all stacked on top of each other.

Plus my boy, I have not been in the water since the meet.

Ahelee – thanks, I’m a gold medal sponsor even, fancy huh?

I think you could pick just about anything and dominate. A problem I’ve never really had so I guess I can’t understand the pressure :) Are you going to be there all 4 days or just a few of them?

Hopefully you can get back into the water soon! Is your back still giving you trouble or is it the whole stingray attack thing?

The Gold Medal Sponsor is the best kept non-secret at Nationals! Incredibly convenient and always very well run with good food.
No one should go to the meet without it – seriously.
