Tonight I got in my last swim before the big meet in Long Beach. I swam less than 1000 yards, mainly slow but with a few fast 50′s and 25′s from the middle of the pool thrown in for good measure. I made sure to do some butterfly and practice some turns. I would have taken a few shots off the blocks but my pool is 4 feet deep and doesn’t have any.

This weekend I’m swimming the 50 free, 50 fly, 100 fly, and it looks like a few relays. I’m not sure which ones or what strokes/distances just yet, the relays will be more of a whatever happens happens type of deal. I’m going to have to dump my 200 breaststroke because it’s just going to be way to late in the day on Sunday.

I’ve heard the pool is real fast and this is going to be a meet that’s really deep talent-wise, so I’m hoping to turn in some personal bests while I’m there. I’d be excited if I found a way to break :30 in either of my 50′s, and anything sub 1:10 in my 100 fly would be outstanding. My best SCM time so far is 1:12 but I went the equivalent of 1:10 in San Luis Obispo (1:04 in SCY) and I’d like to beat that.

I’ll be driving down Friday after work and probably be in town around 9 or 10pm. I’m swimming all day Saturday and I’ll probably bail around 12-1 on Sunday. If you see me at the meet or out around town say hi! Nothing would stoke my ego more than a stranger to say “hey aren’t you that guy?” :)

Good luck to everybody swimming this weekend!
